A Deeper Dive into Enabled!

We are striving to accomplish a perfect solution for diabetics. Forever. While reading this, it's going to be the last time you ever think of diabetes in the way it's been stereotyped (a nuisance, isolated; only you have diabetes).

Peer-to-Peer Accountability

The "Glucolympics" page will be electric. Users will be competing against their network each week by keeping their blood sugar "Time In Range" high. This will effectively "gamify" diabetes and make it more about beating Jimmy than about diabetes.

Allowing anyone besides your endocrinologist(diabetes doctor) access to your performance data is a novel idea. This means we are on the precipice of the new age of diabetes management, which is really exciting because it now matters how well we perform with diabetes RIGHT NOW! People in the fitness industry often reference the watches effect on the psychology of working out. The runners don't feel as good about a run that isn't tracked on their garmin. Garmin effectively gamified fitness, and making the runner's effort count. We will make your effort to pre-bolus(deliver insulin before eating), eating clean, count! Also, people will be able to set up their own groups such as "marathon training", "pregnant" or any significant niche that people can identify with. Elo (power) rankings to see where you fall in the bell curve for your friends, any niche, and the world will be updated weekly so you have a constant read on how you are handling your sugar.

Personal Accountability

The "DashBoard" page will have the current day's statlines such as % of time below ideal range, % of time in the ideal range, and % of time above ideal range. To make sure everyone is aware, the data point we are tracking is the glucose values (how much sugar is in our blood). We created a function to aggregate those data points for each day and give the diabetic a grade out of 100, similar to a school assignment. Each day the diabetic will be notified of their grade, Time in Range, to keep reminding them of their current performance.

Transfer of Knowledge

The "Groups" page will perhaps be the most powerful aspect. Visualize this. You are a parent of a young diabetic, and your child is struggling to manage blood sugar at school. You join a group called "parents with young diabetics" on Enabled. David is another child with diabetes in the group and is handling his sugar like a pro. Wouldn't you want to get into contact with David's mother to pick her brain? The transfer of knowledge across the network will equip every diabetic with the tool belt of the top 1% performers. This advice would be verified as their performance data is public.
